Inspiration

Seeing small dairy farmers struggle with manual work, inconsistent feeding, and late health detection inspired us to create an affordable AI + IoT system that makes dairy farming easier, smarter, and more productive.

What it does

The system automates feeding, watering, cleaning, temperature control, fogging, health monitoring, heat detection, calving alerts, and milk quality analysis—all in real time through a mobile dashboard.

How we built it

We used ESP32, sensors, actuators, LoRa/Bluetooth modules, and AI models for behaviour analysis. Data flows to a cloud dashboard for alerts and predictions. Each feature is modular so farmers can adopt it easily.

Challenges

we ran into Ensuring accurate health detection, creating stable communication, calibrating sensors, designing affordable hardware, and managing power for continuous operation in rural conditions.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

Building a working prototype that automates major dairy tasks, detecting health and heat patterns early, achieving low-cost hardware design, and creating a system scalable for any size farm.

What we learned

Sensor integration, embedded system design, AI-based anomaly detection, IoT communication, hardware reliability, user-centric design, and how to solve real agricultural problems with tech.

What’s next for Automated Dairy Farming

Add milk adulteration detection, AI diet recommendation, full mobile app, solar-powered units, farm-to-consumer milk traceability, and deployment in real dairy farms for testing and scaling
